Blastr to build pellet plant in Norway
Blastr Green Steel plans to invest in an iron ore pellet plant in Gildeskål municipality in Northern Norway, to convert iron ore pellet feed into so-called high-quality direct reduction pellets, which are used as raw material for green steel production. The power needed for the process will be based on hydropower, and Blastr is now in discussions about long-term power contracts.
How the year of the war affected Ukrainian steel
The iron and steel complex of Ukraine suffered from the war significantly more than other sectors of the economy. Some 40% of the steel capacities were seized or destroyed in Mariupol. However, the key remaining enterprises of the industry are already making plans to increase production compared to the difficult 4th quarter of 2022.
